Hey again! Dawn here just blogging away! Coffee.. √ A Clean Cigarette e-cig.. √ Lap top .. √ Common sense cap on.. √. That last one seems to be lacking in the world today. With Big Media propaganda and Big Corporations deciding what big media can report on, it is becoming more and more difficult to understand some of the most basic truths about E-Cigarettes. We are trying to help here. That is way I now sit at this lap top more then I do anything else in a day. Because people deserve to be told truths. To make informed choices and know that information is from a good place.
Unfortunately when you try to squish the whole Internet’s worth of information into a blog, they can run long. I try to break it up so that it’s more pleasant to read. I will also try to keep tonight’s blog shorter than this mornings blog. It is about the available studies regarding e-cigarettes was a huge 1600+ words lol!
Let’s get to it, What do doctors and other health care providers have to say about e-cigarettes?
“Smokers smoke because they are addicted to nicotine in cigarettes, but it is the smoke, not the nicotine, which causes a long list of diseases including lung cancer, heart disease, stroke and emphysema.” — New York State Health Commissioner, Richard Daines, M.D.
“Nicotine is the addictive ingredient in cigarettes that keeps smokers hooked, but it’s not the ingredient that harms smokers’ health. With safe nicotine products, smokers can give up the smoke without giving up the nicotine.” — Ursula Bauer, Ph.D., M.P.H, director of the New York State Tobacco Control Program
“All that’s happening is you’re heating up a liquid to the point of becoming a vapor. So referring to it as smoke doesn’t make sense at all. Therefore, considering it subject to a smoking ban doesn’t really make sense, either.” — Dr. David Baron, Chief of Staff at UCLA Medical Center,
“There is substantial and compelling scientific research documenting that consuming the ingredients in e-cigarettes (nicotine, propylene glycol, water and flavors) is vastly safer than burning tobacco and inhaling 3000+ toxic by-products. Claiming that e-cigarettes are dangerous for non-smokers is about as credible as claiming that air travel is dangerous for people who never set foot in an airplane.” — Dr. Brad Rodu, Professor of Medicine at the University of Louisville
“The safety of e-cigarettes has not been fully studied, so the jury is still out. “There’s a lot we don’t know, such as how much nicotine a per- son is inhaling with each puff, or what other chemicals they are inhaling from the cartridges. More research needs to be done.” — Dr. Shelley, http://www.med.nyu.edu/cancer/newsletter/winter-2014/are-electronic-cigarettes-safe
“E-cigarette use is growing rapidly. There is still a lot we don’t know about these products, including whether they will decrease or increase use of traditional cigarettes.” — Dr. Tom Frieden, Director of CDC
“Don’t be fooled into thinking an e-cigarette is a safe alternative to smoking, or a sure-fire way to quit. There is no scientific evidence that either of those assumptions is true.” — Dr. Jeff Engel, North
Carolina State Health Director
“They are available in shopping malls and online and are sold with no age restriction, so they can
easily be purchased and used by children and teens.” — Dr. Jeff Engel,North Carolina State Health Director
So after all that reading, the good that is coming from the medical community, looks pretty good. Doctors everywhere are starting to be pleased with the evidence found in the 1000’s of e-cig studies. Some even believe these devices could save lives. Most of the ones I could find talking about e-cigarettes are very positive about their benefits being far greater than their risks. Wow!! On the bad side of things though we have 1 doctor who makes a valid statement, there is no proof that e-cigs are a “sure fire way” to quit smoking. We do not say that it is. We have a huge pile of customer testimonies though if you want to hear what they think CLICK HERE. Another from the bad side is that some doctors would like to see more research. It’s hard to believe that 1000’s of documents and studies are not enough to even make a dent in their opinions. As for the availability to minors. We agree, that’s a problem. That is why at A Clean Cigarette, we do not sell to anyone under 18. Just as important though, we do not sell to non-smokers. Our company policy is NOT to get people hooked on nicotine. The stuff is BAD for you. Why on green earth would you WANT to start something like nicotine delivery systems. We do wonder however, why when in our very own state of Michigan both our house and our senate have passed a minor sale law through is it taking over a year for it to take effect? Ya, this is an issue. That’s not on us though, as an industry a large number of us are trying. We are trying by simply choosing not to sell to minors. reputable companies do not need to be told that, that is just the right thing to do.
Okay, I could say a lot more on this subject but I will save it for another day! Thank you so much for stopping in, and I hope you join us again!!
