Hey everyone it’s Dawn again! I had an amazing weekend and I hope all of you did as well! Have any of you ever been standing near someone who is a current burning cigarette smoker and even though they are not having a cigarette at the moment, you know that they smoke because of the lingering smell? That smell is thought to be a direct result of toxic chemical deposits in the form of tar “sticking” to clothes, hair, skin and other surfaces. This is such a common occurrence it is being referred to by some in the research industry as “3rd hand smoke”. That name stems from the fact that it not only effects the smoker and non-smokers via the smoke. It also can transfer toxins from person to person via the “stuck” particles on the smoker transferring to non-smokers. So why is that important what does TAR in particular do to the human body?
For starters when tar makes it’s way into your lungs via inhalation it paralyzes the cilia in the lungs. The definition of Cilia according to about health dot com is: Cilia are fine hair-like projections from certain kinds of cells. Cilia line the respiratory tract, and they move in rhythmic unison to “sweep” away fluids and particles within the lungs.
In the 1950’s filters were added to burning tobacco in an effort to keep tar from entering the lungs. They did not help much at all, many studies show that filters have little to no tar stopping effect over any period of real time, there is just too much tar per cigarette. So these little hairs pictured here get coated with the same Tar seen in the picture here. Can you imagine taking your broom at home and dipping it into that black mess?
Would it then work again to sweep up all the dust and dirt it was designed to remove from your floors? Of course not, once the hairs are all stuck together and hard they just don’t “sweep” like they were created to.
So that means not only the toxins and poisons that are inhaled while smoking burning tobacco cigarettes get stuck in your lungs, but also everything else you inhale through out the day. Think about all the things we inhale in just our every day lives that can no longer get defended against by your bodies natural systems. It’s scary really.
There are different levels of Tar in different types of cigarettes.
That being said there is absolutely NO “safe” level of tar. The stuff is just bad for you. Here is a list of issues thought to be associated with Tar and your body regardless of the tar “level” of the burning tobacco cigarette:
And the list goes on.
I do have good news for you if you are thinking of making the switch to A Clean Cigarette brand electronic cigarettes. There can be no tar in an electronic cigarette. Why? Because tar happens when the tobacco is lit on fire, and with A Clean Cigarette:
So no fire = No tar
So do yourself and your Cilia a huge life changing favor. Update your nicotine delivery system and ditch the Tar!
