Do to the recent and very unfortunate Generation 3 type Mod blowing up in Alabama which resulted in massive injuries to a 23 year old young man. We have decided to re-blog this post. It goes over not only the Cig-a-like design that we sell here at A Clean Cigarette, but also the other types of vapors out there and how you can tell them apart. Pictured below is the Gen 3 Mod that blew up. Click the image to be re-directed to the full news story.
Hello great people! Dawn here today to talk about the science behind our design. I think the best way to start would be to talk about the all the different types of E-Cigs available, what they are called, and what each ones best fit is. In our opinion.
There are 3 main categories of e-cigarettes (EC) known as generations. All ECs pretty much fall under either generation 1, 2 or 3. Lets take a quick look at what types of products fall under each category. Let’s take a look. ⇓
What does all this really mean to the consumer though? Well, what is it that you are trying to do with your EC? If you are a Non-smoker and just wanting to try a new trend that lets you have access to a wide verity of candy and fruit flavors, then Generation 2 may be the best fit for you. We do not offer Gen 2 products at A Clean Cigarette, but have no fear, they are available at nearly every gas station you pass by.
On the other hand, if you if you are a hobbyist or some one who likes to put together small parts and pieces and would like to produce HUGE amounts of vapor. Then Generation 3 the Mod type product has promise. Be aware that with Gen 3 products the very fact that they are modifiable also makes them potentially very dangerous. We at A Clean Cigarette do not sell them and can offer very limited information on these product. There are many reputable Gen 3 product companies out there. Do some research and be well informed about what parts you need to buy to make your device as safe as these devices can be.
Regardless of weather you choose Gen 2 or Gen 3 type vapes your flavor selection is massive. So these products sound great as flavor and vapor delivery methods, especially for non-smokers looking to try a new fad. What if you are a current burning tobacco smoker though. What if you do not want to fiddle with small parts and nicotine filled vials of child like flavors? What if you do not want to fill your whole living room with vapor? What if you are looking for something that looks and feels like your current nicotine delivery device, but lacks the tar, 600 ingredients and 4000 chemicals of your current burning tobacco cigarette?
No problem, we at A Clean Cigarette have you covered. With Generation 1 devices, you do not have to worry about small replaceable parts or vials of poisonous nicotine laying around your home. You will get to keep the look and feel of the habit you currently have, not start a new hobby. Cig-A-Likes are just that, they mimic a cigarette. The Science behind that is important though. Why does something that mimics a cigarette work better for a consumer trying to make the switch? It’s simple really and best said by this systematic review published on the National Institute of Health’s website.
Here is a quote or CLICK HERE to see the whole document! (It’s pretty Awesome)
“The popularity of ECs may be due to their ability to deal both with the physical (i.e. nicotine) and the behavioral component of smoking addiction. In particular, sensory stimulation [Rose and Levin, 1991] and simulation of smoking behavior and cigarette manipulation [Hajek et al. 1989] are important determinants of a product’s effectiveness in reducing or completely substituting smoking. These features are generally absent in nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs) and oral medications for nicotine dependence, whereas ECs are unique in that they provide rituals associated with smoking behavior (e.g. hand-to-mouth movement, visible ‘smoke’ exhaled) and sensory stimulation associated with it [Farsalinos et al. 2013b]. This explains why these products can be effective in reducing consumption of tobacco smoking [Bullen et al. 2013; Caponnetto et al. 2013b;Polosa et al. 2011] and are efficient as long-term substitutes of conventional cigarettes [Farsalinos et al. 2013b].”
I hope all this helps you when you are out picking your preferred electronic cigarette. Remember, there are a ton of products out there but not every product is the best fit for YOUR needs. Ask yourself, what are you looking for in your device? If you have any questions or thoughts about all of this, I really want to hear from you. Email me, Dawn, at email@example.com any time!
Before we go I would like to quote the conclusion of that systematic review we were just talking about. “ECs are a revolutionary product in tobacco harm reduction. Although they emit vapor, which resembles smoke, there is literally no fire (combustion) and no ‘fire’ (suspicion or evidence that they may be the cause for disease in a similar way to tobacco cigarettes). Due to their unique characteristics, ECs represent a historical opportunity to save millions of lives and significantly reduce the burden of smoking-related diseases worldwide.” Wow that’s powerful and to believe it is found on the NIH.Gov site!
